Rafael Torres' Movement & Posture Restoration (MPR) is a highly successful technique proven to reduce and eliminate pain and tightness. The Technique was developed by Rafael Torres. MPR is a physical therapy alternative currently available in New York City.

It can improve posture, and increase your range of motion, strength, and body’s overall physical performance.

The focus of MPR is to reset your nervous system, to improve signals between the brain and muscles.

Why improve communication between the brain and muscles? Creating stronger signals and communication between the brain and muscles leads to improved muscle function, increased strength and reduction in pain.

Over time the forces of gravity, aging, injuries, and other factors weaken the signals between your brain and muscles, causing your muscles to not function properly.

MPR uses muscle testing to engage the control center of the body to facilitate new learning and strengthen communication with the nervous system.

Almost all MPR clients will notice improved muscle functioning, reduced pain, and improved athletic performance within 3 to 6 sessions. Although each case is unique, MPR can be used to set you on the path to improved functioning.

How can MPR be helpful?

Movement and Posture Restoration (MPR) is commonly used to treat:

  • Poor posture
  • Pain, tightness or stiffness
  • Limited range of motion
  • Numbness or tingling
  • Loss of strength
  • Feeling clumsy
  • Decreased performance in sports.
  • Discomfort when standing, sitting or lying down
  • Physical Therapy alternative
  • Decreased muscle activation

Muscle Activation Techniques is a hands on approach that allows the M.A.T specialist to identify muscular imbalances and address them instantly. The technique was developed by Greg Roskopf. It is one of the most well-known and wildly popular bodywork techniques in the world today. Muscle Activation Techniques has also been featured on the Dr. Oz Show.

By addressing the weakness and dysfunctions within the body, M.A.T has dramatically improved functional capabilities in all age groups, along with elevating sports performance and career longevity in many competitive athletes.

M.A.T uses a range of motion (ROM) exam and explicit positional muscle tests to identify the body’s greatest limitations. Limitations are based on asymmetries in the body, comparing one side to the other. Positional muscle testing is then used to identify the precise muscles that are causing the dysfunction and contributing to these limitations. Digital Force Application to Muscular Attachment Tissue, as well as specific isometric contractions, are then used to correct these limitations and restore proper muscle function. M.A.T is successful because it allows the human body to heal itself.

MAT is an innovative, non-invasive approach that identifies and corrects muscular imbalances that are often responsible for pain, tightness and/or injury. M.A.T views muscle tightness as the body’s way of protecting itself from weak or inhibited muscles. No matter the exercise: golf, running, or simply walking, the M.A.T process addresses the weak links, by correcting muscular weakness, which in turn may relieve muscle tightness, decrease pain and reduce the risk of injury.

Muscular imbalances develop over time as a result of overuse, stress, and trauma. Years of compensation patterns may eventually lead to structural abnormalities and pain. Pain is an indicator that something within our body is not functioning properly. M.A.T focuses on the cause of the imbalances.

If you are looking to increase your range of motion in order to improve your athletic performance or to simply be able to enjoy daily activities without pain then M.A.T is for you. M.A.T can also be used in conjunction with current physical therapy methods or as a stand alone modality. Don’t accept the, “no pain, no gain,” myth. M.A.T will help you eliminate the limitations associated with aging by relieving you of the pain, weakness, and/or tightness associated with the natural bodily degeneration process. With M.A.T, every individual can lead a happy and healthy pain free life.
